HARVEY THOMPSON

Harvey Thompson, Jr. was a founding member of the Thompson Trio. As a professional pianist, he worked for Malaco Records and Muscle Shoals Sound Gospel Records as a songwriter and session musician. He wrote songs for Denise Lasalle, Keith Pringle, The Christianaires, and Louis Davis. Harvey backed Percy Sledge, The Commodores, Ernie Ashworth, Taylor Hicks, Diana DeGarmo, Eddie Floyd, The Secret Sisters, The Georgia Mass Choir, and the Temptations.  Harvey was joined by his father, Harvey Thompson, Sr. A saxophonist, he is one of the original members of the Muscle Shoals Horns, contributing to countless legendary recordings at FAME Recording Studios. Thompson also toured extensively with Lyle Lovett, and played with a wide variety of other artists, including John Denver, Kim Carnes, and Elton John. Harvey was joined by his father, Muscle Shoals Music legend Harvey Thompson, Sr., on the heels of the 50th anniversary of the Muscle Shoals Horns. Harvey Thompson, Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He is dearly missed by family, friends, and fans, including those of us here at Trissl Sports Cars.

EXOTIC DANGERS

“When “Brown Sugar” comes on the radio, everyone wigs out to it and someone inevitably says, “Man, they just don’t make songs like they used to.” Why not? That’s what I want to do. That’s the music I like.” Consider it Daniel Crisler’s musical manifesto. “The founding fathers wrote and played what felt good, rolled tape, counted it off, and boom. It is in many ways, a lost and dying art – seemingly primitive, impractical, unsophisticated, and not financially viable. But, hey, if that’s how our favorite hits were made, I wanted to give it a shot and see what happened.”  Welcome to the world of Exotic Dangers, a four-piece rock-and-roll outfit from The Shoals, Alabama.  Straight out of the gate, the band has garnered a loyal following— the result of four people taking the noises they love and distilling them into a full-fledged sound. “I, by no means, want to be a throwback band; that’s not what this is. We just like older music, older clothing styles, and older methods,” Crisler says. “Take it as you will. We just like it.”

ROCK-N-ROLL REBELS

As the name may imply, this band plays Rock ’n Roll music. But make no mistake about it…these guys ain’t your average cover band from Las Vegas. In fact, after seeing the Rock-N-Roll Rebels play one of their trademark shows, you’ll swear you’ve just been to one of the most amazing concerts you’ve ever seen! Looking at a photo of this group, you’d swear you were looking at the cover of The Rolling Stone. TheRock-N-Roll Rebels are pure music and rock star appeal. Don’t be shocked if you hear “California Sun,” by The Ramones or an amazing version of “You Really Got Me,” as it was performed by Van Halen! No matter the song lists for the night, you can expect an entire set of music from Lynyrd Skynyrd, one of the bands that helped put Florence’s neighboring Muscle Shoals on the music map.
